Here is an overview of the Iron Man WoW challenge, and all the stuff you need to know.

What is the Iron Man challenge?

Iron Man was an idea originally posted on the WoW forum by Jahjin. (View the thread here: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/3269547347 ). It is a test of skill, nerve, patience and stamina. It will put you through the ultimate test of survival. With no talents, no help and no gear, can you make it all the way?

RULES:

+++CREATING YOUR CHARACTER+++

You do not get to choose your character. You must pick your faction, class, race and gender at random. Please use this random number generator to select your character.

PLEASE CREATE YOUR CHARACTER ON THE EARTHERN RING SERVER.

For each of the following character choices, please enter these values to the number generator.

(For all of them, there must be only 1 random integer (the first box))

Faction:
Change the third box to read 2.
Alliance = 1
Horde = 2.

Race:
Please change the third box to read 6.
Depending on what you got for your Faction, the following races are assigned to each number.
Human/Orc = 1
Dwarf/Undead = 2
Night Elf/Tauren = 3
Gnome/Troll = 4
Draenei/Blood Elf = 5
Worgen/Goblin = 6

Class:

Please change the third box to read 9.

Warrior = 1
Paladin = 2
Hunter = 3
Rogue = 4
Priest = 5
Shaman = 6
Mage = 7
Warlock = 8
Druid = 9

Gender:
Please change the third box to read 2.
Male = 1
Female = 2

Feel free to change the appearance of your character as you wish.

Name your character what you want, but 90% of us have the word "iron" in our names, so you may want to do that.

Once you have created your random character, and have entered the world, type "/join ironcurtain" if you are Horde; and for Alliance, type "/join Darkiron".

Alternatively, ignore the Faction rule and just join Horde - the Horde is much more popular. Feel free to roll on another server, but we are all on Earthern Ring, so bear that in mind.

RULES FOR LEVELING:

You CANNOT
- Equip any items other than Grey or White items (this does not include Heirlooms).
- Use any talent points.
- Learn any professions, except for First Aid.
- Group with other players, including in Dungeons and Battlegrounds.
- Use food or drink of a higher level than vendor-quality white items.
- Enchant your items, or use glyphs, Scrolls and potions. (Excluding class-specific self-buff enchantments such as Shaman weapon enchantments)
- Buy items on the Auction House.
- Get gold from other players, or alts.
- Create a Death Knight
- Die. If you die, you have to make a new character at level 1 and start over.

This forum is mainly for Horde users, however everyone is free to post.

To access our channel in game (on Horde), type "/join ironcurtain". There is no password.
To access the Alliance channel, type "/join darkiron".

For Alliance side the channel is Darkiron.


Please take note that no potions means no potions,
this includes health and mana potions, even those by a custom name.

What are the views on intervention? If you see another Iron struggling about to meet their untimely end are we allowed to go to their aid or not? Is this enforceable either? I mean random people waddling around might just kill your mob for you for funsies...So confused.

I guess that would probably be allowed, providing they didn't ask for your help and you did it spontaneously.

Speaking more broadly, we can't enforce anything - we're not a guild, for a start - but if you break a rule then it's ultimately you that loses out. You're in the Iron Man challenge because you want a challenge, and you want the satisfaction that it gives you. You won't get that if you don't follow the rules.

i'm not sure if this is against the rules on the bags, but if you happen to get a traveler's backpack? its a green so i'm gonna assume no but just wanted to be extra sure....can't wait to start this tonight!!!

Are we allowed to accept greens as quest rewards and sell them without equipping?
